City of Sugar Hill C.A.R.E.S.

Waste and Recycling

Residents of Sugar Hill now have two options for the waste collection provided by Robertson Sanitation:

  • The Bag System
  • Optional 95-Gallon Service Carts

- Holiday Schedule -

Robinson observes three (3) major holidays during the year; New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.

As a rule, if your pick up day falls on one of these holidays, garbage and recycling service will run one day late for the

balance of the week. Trucks may arrive earlier during holidays so place your trash out the night before.

The Bag System

Buy your bags...

The City of Sugar Hill does not bill you for garbage service.  You must buy and use specially marked Sugar Hill bags that will hold 32 gallons of trash from the following retail stores:

  • S&S Ace Hardware-   4300 Buford Highway
  • Kroger-   1605 Buford Highway
  • Kroger-   400 Peachtree Industrial Hwy
  • Publix-   5885 Cumming Highway
  • Publix-   1000 Peachtree Industrial Hwy
  • Quality Foods-   4450 Nelson Brogdon Blvd

The cost of these bags includes your curbside household garbage and recycling service.

Place household garbage in the bag...

Place household garbage in specially marked bags.  If you have an item that won't fit in the bag (like an old lawn chair), tape a bag to the item and we will pick it up.

Cardboard collected at the curb will not be recycled.  Cardboard boxes left at the curb must be broken down (flattened) and placed in the "Special Bag".

Things that you don't want to put in the bag that we can not pickup includes, but is not limited to:

  • Tires & Automotive parts, Paint, oil and chemicals.

Questions about these items can be directed to Robertson's customer service representatives at (770) 921-7337.

HINT #1:      Minimize your garbage removal costs by RECYCLING as many items as you can.

HINT #2:      All bags MUST be secured at the top prior to collection.  Use the handy twist ties provided with the bags.

Take it to the curb early...

Place your trash at the curb on Tuesday night or by 7:00 AM on Wednesday for pickup.

Put it in plain view...

Place your garbage bags in an area of plain view within 5 feet of the curb so our truck drivers won't miss them.  Remember some trucks may be out in your neighborhood when it is still dark outside.  DON'T put bags behind shrubbery.

TIP:   Placing your correct address on your mailbox will help our drivers identify your house as well as public service crews in the event of an emergency.

65 or 95-Gallon Service Carts

You now have a choice. You may subscribe to containerized waste service as an alternative to the bag program. Only residential solid waste that is bagged and placed in a 65 or 90-gallon cart provided by Robertson, shall be collected by Robertson.

Robertson shall charge $28.05 per quarter, per residence for the 65-gallon cart or $34.35 per quarter, per residence for the 90-gallon cart. Residents are required to pay the prorated amount due at the time service is established in addition to paying one quarter's advanced billing. Robertson must receive the prorated amount and first quarter advanced payment and a deposit before service will begin.

Delinquent Accounts...

When payment is not received by the first day of the first month in which the quarterly statement for service is to be rendered, service will be stopped and the account considered delinquent.

All delinquent accounts are subject to stoppage of service without notice.   If a delinquent account is not paid within 30 days, the company will cease all refuse collection for that account.   Services shall be resumed only after payment of accumulated fees, a $25.00 restart fee and a security deposit of $102.00 or the equivalent of two full quarters of service fees have been received from the resident.

Cart Collection Guidelines...

All garbage must be bagged, properly secured, and placed inside the 65-gallon or 95-gallon cart provided by Robertson.

Robertson Sanitation and the City of Sugar Hill have agreed to use only the 65-gallon and 90-gallon cart provided by Robertson Sanitation.   The carts must be placed curbside, clearly seen and within 5 feet of the road.   Any additional waste placed outside the container must be placed in the specially marked Sugar Hill bags described in The Bag System. Solid waste in bags other than the specially marked Sugar Hill bags placed outside the cart will not be collected.   If residents do use nonconforming containers or bags, the resident's garbage will not be picked up, since this is not part of the city's contract.

All solid waste and recycling items must be placed curbside by 7:00 AM Wednesday. Both services are provided the same day of the week. Robertson will accept typical household garbage properly secured in the appropriate bags of 50 pounds or less.

For items (less than 50 pounds), such as sofas, tables, chairs, etc., which are too bulky to fit in a Robertson Sanitation Cart, you must place the item at the curb and attach a Sugar Hill bag to each item.

Items heavier than 50 pounds, i.e., stoves, water heaters, etc. may be collected by making special arrangements with Robertson.   Call 770-921-7337 (a Sugar Hill bag must be attached to each item).

If you have an item that won't fit in the cart (like an old lawn chair), you may tape a Sugar Hill "bag" to the item and we will pick it up.

Things that you don't want to put in the bag that we cannot pick up are:

  • Tires and automotive parts, Paints, Oil, and chemicals

The City of Sugar Hill picks up yard waste.

Yard Clippings- Place all bagged yard clippings at the curb on Monday Mornings for Monday or Tuesday pickup. Sugar Hill preprinted bags are not required.
