IT Technician – Full-Time Position

As an IT Technician you will diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware and software components. You will install and configure computer hardware and provide IT support for the city staff. You will routinely interact with various departments and levels and listen to their technical needs and implement IT solutions to resolve issues.

IT Technician Responsibilities:

• Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
• Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers.
• Setting up audio/video for events and video recording council meetings.
• Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
• Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
• Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.
• Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.
• Conducting daily backup operations.
• Travel to facilities around city for onsite user support or project work.
• Managing technical documentation.

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:

• Experience administering websites hosted in a content management system.
• Experience in working with Office 365 Suite.
• Experience in working with Virtual Environments and Systems (VMware or Hyper-V).
• Experience in setting up and installing security cameras and network equipment and hardware.

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:

• At least two years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and working with PC hardware.
• A solid understanding of PC hardware, software, mobile computing devices, peripheral equipment, and networking principles and functions. Solid technical troubleshooting skills and a working knowledge of current technologies.
• Strong multi-tasking, customer service, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to end-users.

Other Requirements:

• Knowledge of proper body mechanics.
• May occasionally be required to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders. May have to reach above eye level. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
