    • Census Response Rate and Competition

-Our current self-response rate is sitting at 72% which gives us the 11th highest in the state. We will soon begin a “Census Competition” to try to drive our percentage to over 75%. We continue to encourage residents who have not yet filled out their self-response census online to do so. This marketing campaign will utilize our partners at Que Pasa Atlanta to assist in reaching a new audience.

-The Census Bureau will be using the History Room to swear in their representatives that will begin the door-to-door campaign on August 11th. They will occupy that room on 7/31, 8/3 and 8/4.

      • Ducks Have Arrived

-Our new feathered residents made their grand debut in the pond behind the E Center yesterday afternoon. We do not plan to publicly announce their arrival for another week or two to allow them to get acclimated to their new surroundings.

-Signage will be installed to make the public aware that they can purchase food for the ducks and outline foods that the ducks can and cannot eat.

-Signage stating that dogs must be on a leash will also be installed.

-A location near the bottom E Center pools has been identified for a bronze duck in recognition of George.

      • Splash Pad

-Staff found a substantial leak at the meter today (broken pipe coming out of the meter box along Temple at the driveway). It has been repaired, but we are still wrestling to get the pH and chlorine levels in balance. So far today we have not been able to open the facility, but hope to have the issues resolved tomorrow in time for the majority of the weekend.

      • Economic Recovery Open Houses

-At the recommendation of the Economic Recovery Task Force, two public virtual open houses were hosted this week. Participants engaged with questions ranging from current market trends and impact on projects to a discussion of specific business resources and support from task force members representing Quantum Bank, Jajeh Financial, and UGA SBDC. Additional open houses will be planned.
