Splash Park Reopening
-The Splash Park will re-open tomorrow, Saturday, June 13th. COVID-19-related guidance will be posted. An activation button has been installed on the corner column so that the system can run on a timer and will limit excessive running when there is no demand. This messaging was announced on social media and the city website today about the opening.
City Hall and the E Center
-City Hall will return to standard operating hours and relax some limitations on Monday, June 15th, 2020. Permanent glass transaction windows have been installed at city hall at the customer service desk. The Post Office and other service desks are being evaluated where face to face interaction and service is provided.
-The E Center Gym will resume normal hours and operations on Monday, June 15th, 2020 with COVID19 social-distancing guidance posted. Class sizes (and any other organized event) will be limited until expiration of the current public health order.
Utility Billing Update
-Late Notices were distributed to Sugar Hill Natural Gas Customers with delinquent accounts today.
Resolution Condemning Racism
-On Monday evening, the City Council adopted a resolution condemning racism. A press release was distributed to local media outlets as well as shared on the city’s social media pages.
-The Sugar Hill Youth Council will be holding an online summit to discuss racial injustice.
Miscellaneous Updates/Information
-All-In Futbol Club is beginning day camps at Gary Pirkle Park starting Monday, June 15th, 2020.
-Municipal Court met today--6/12/20 (in-person) for the first time in several months implementing social-distancing protocols.
-Planning Commission meets in-person Monday 6/15/20 and will take up the subject of the proposed mixed-use project at the intersection of Sycamore and Highway 20 (Sycamore Square- RZ 20-002, 10.7 acres). Request is for expansion of the CBD for mixed use including: Four residential condominium buildings (120 units, marketing for active adult/55+; 73,000 sf general retail and office; and 31,000 sf grocery (Lidl). This will be their first in-person meeting since February 2020.
-Public Involvement Meeting- The large city-owned tract (99+AC) at the Chattahoochee, previously discussed, will be the subject of a series of public meetings beginning in July. These will offer staff a chance to secure input from the public about prospective uses complementary to the area. The first meeting will be in mid-July. More information will be distributed towards the end of June.
-Millage Rate hearings are anticipated being later than normal due to county delays, moving toward the August regular meetings.
-Sugar Hill Distillery has completed work associated with their demolition permit, details still outstanding for their commercial remodel permit (application received 6/9/2020).
-We are coordinating a plan to allow Alliance Residential to provide scheduled hard hat tours of the Broadstone building on a limited basis for prospective residents. Possibly as early next week.
