Notes and Quotes-6/29/2020
Broadstone
-Broadstone plans to move into their on-site leasing office next week and have begun pre-leasing their units. The permanent Broadstone sign was installed this week as well. There has been significant work completed on the park located next to Broadstone as well.
-The water feature that is part of the Broadstone development is taking shape directly across the street from the 39th Street promenade. It is a gold miner panning for gold, paying homage to our history.
Holbrook Assisted Living (formerly Dogwood Forest)
-The Holbrook (previously Dogwood Forest) closed earlier this week and Solomon issued the “Notice to Proceed” to their construction partner – Choate. Heavy equipment was delivered to the site yesterday and land disturbance/site work activities started today.
-We will now engage Solomon and their equity partner (Berkshire) in discussion about the +/-8.1 acres we own on Highway 20 between West Broad and Bailey Avenue for an independent living development. As you recall, we have an LOI from Solomon for the subject property but we have waited to execute the development agreement until the Dogwood Forest project had closed.
Duck Naming & Committee Member Search
-The “Name the Downtown Ducks” call to action is well underway. We have received over 25 duck naming coloring sheets to city hall.
-A “duck naming committee” is being formed to help narrow down the selection to four names shared for a final public vote. A social media contest is being held to find our final member of the duck naming committee with the goal of picking a community member with a strong connection to downtown Sugar Hill.
2020 Census Update
-The Sugar Hill Census self-response rate of 71.6% continues to be among the top 10 highest in Georgia. Keep up the great work! Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Census Bureau has extended the self-response date from July 31st to October 31st, 2020. For those that have not filled out their self-response census online or in-person, the non-response (door-to-door) follow-ups will begin on August 11th, 2020.
