Public Projects Construction Update – August 2022

Sugar Hill Greenway

The section of trail from Level Creek Rd. to Level Creek itself (Bridge #2) was paved last week. Work on grading the shoulders and stabilizing the slopes on either side of the trail continues. When complete, approximately 3.5 miles will be ready for public use.

Work continues from Level Creek Rd. to Whitehead Rd. Grading should be complete this week and paving should begin in the next couple of weeks.

Gold Mine Park. Tri Scapes, our general contractor, has completed the pavement portion of the park and now moves on to installing a dumpster enclosure and storage building, striping the parking spaces and entrance lanes, commissioning the street crossing lights and finishing up some other small details. Completion is dependent on some long lead time items such as handrails on the boardwalk and bollards in the parking lot.

E Center Event Space. The space is substantially complete with just a few punch list items to finish up.

The space was used as a relaxation area for the acts that played in the Bowl. We anticipate opening it up to renters as soon as the permanent furniture arrives in the next few weeks.

Signs have been installed.

Ridge Lake Park. A September meeting agenda item is the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the new park that will be on the 22 acres the city owns off Highway 20. Consisting of a parking area, rest room building with covered seating area, a dog park, pond improvements and trails; it will be the newest place to relax and unwind. Many of the amenities in the park were suggested by the public during open houses that we held in 2017 and 2018.

Community Garden Pavilion.  Our own Public Works Department has completed the new pavilion. It consists of a concrete pad with a pavilion cover for meetings, education and events. New, handmade picnic benches were recently delivered. Thanks go out to our talented, creative staff that made this project a success.

Gary Pirkle Park Restroom Building. Design is well underway on a restroom building to serve the new fields on the South side of the park. They will incorporate 7 unisex stalls and a water bottle filling station. We will advertise for a construction partner when the design is finished.
