Are you ready to make a real impact in a community that values vision and action? The City of Sugar Hill is where planning and policy are brought to life through bold initiatives and dynamic partnerships. Sugar Hill takes planning seriously and is committed to turning the community’s ideas into reality.

We are looking for a Planning and Development Director who’s just as passionate about shaping the future as we are. The successful candidate will join forces with our community, a highly active Downtown Development Authority (DDA), our new and exciting Riverlands Development Authority, and the city’s Housing Authority to bring vibrant, complementary projects to Sugar Hill. With exciting initiatives on the horizon, like establishing a land trust for perpetual affordable housing, new parks and greenspace, a popular greenway connecting people and places, a vibrant and walkable downtown, there is no shortage of meaningful work to be done in our thriving city of over 28,000 residents.

As the Planning and Development Director, you’ll be at the helm of a department that’s driving the implementation of the city’s vision. You’ll recruit and mentor a talented team and lead strategic city initiatives. In cooperation with our community’s input, you will oversee the creation and implementation of long-range plans that will define Sugar Hill’s future. This is more than a job. It’s a chance to leave your mark on a city that has a bright future.

This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the city manager. If you’re ready to be part of a team that values public service and engages in meaningful planning analysis and development, we want to hear from you!

The closing date for interested candidates to submit a resume and qualifications is 12:00 noon on Friday, September 6, 2024.
