ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20^TH, 2020
DIGITAL MEETING, 6:00 P.M.

 Members in attendance were chair Donna McKinney, Drew Dylan, Marc Cohen, Chandra Brandel, and Barry Palmer

 CALL TO ORDER 6:04PM

 APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Arts Commission Meeting September 15, 2020 – Motion by Motion by Chandra Brandel, Second by Drew Dylan, All in Favor

1. NEW BUSINESS
   1. Art Budget Proposals
      1. Purchase decisions on art acquisitions.
      2. Possible proposal by Drew Dylan for hanging piece in E Center foyer.
   2. Artist Zoom Meetings – Chandra Brandel
      1. Artist discusses concept and process for one or two pieces.
2. DISCUSSION
   1. Lidl: 15-18 months till groundbreaking.
      1. Sculpture, with Arts Commission recommendation, on slab w/ electricity and lights at corner of Sycamore/20 to be co-funded by Sugar Hill and Lidl US.
      2. Theme? Incorporate grocery, healthy, Lidl core values (family, affordability)

• Solicit submissions, and maybe put to resident vote (Duluth – $50K, Sugar Hill – ~$25K?)

1. Broadstone Wall
   1. Feelers out to several artists (heard back from one)
   2. Barry Palmer has proposal (to submit for consideration to be one of the recommendations)
2. Parking Spaces (Gary Perkel Park)
   1. So-so reception in City Council
   2. Assistant City Manager has to look at regulations before approval
