b. Election/Appointment of Roles including: Chair, Co-chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
NEW BUSINESS
a. Special Guests from Suwanee and Norcross.
a. Discussion points from Denise Brinson
i. Arts Commission (AC) should create a vision and goal for master plan before constructing a full master plan.
ii. AC and Council should be on the same page when deciding funding and focus
1. Possible 1% tax? Suwanee does; It goes to either art on their property or funds SculpTour
iii. Create a project and complete it quickly
1. Possibly a mural
iv. Think of doing a “Cultural Arts Plan” instead of “Public Arts Master Plan”
v. Suwanee chose to do passive parks, not active parks like Sugar Hill, and sculpture is better for that
1. See strategic plan on website
vi. AC should try to focus on a narrow group than all “cultural arts”
vii. Suwanee uses sponsorships and funding
viii. AC could control the RFP’s and create a donation policy
ix. Make goals and follow up with a report card
b. Glass artist progress update
c. Hwy 20 mural opportunities
a. Look into Living Walls project in Atlanta
Staff Comments: Megan: start thinking about Sugar Rush. We will need to make a call to artists in March to have a better selection for October.
