Meeting of the Sugar Hill Downtown Development Authority (DDA)

DDA members present were Nick Thompson, Taylor Anderson, Allen Jorgensen, Nic Greene, Brandon Hembree, and Nancy Wren.
Guests present were Nigel Gray, Amy Phillips, Steve Wilkes, and others.
Staff present were Tim Schick, Kaipo Awana, Frank Hartley, and Troy Besseche.
Allen Jorgensen made a motion to approve the agenda, Nic Greene made the second, and the agenda was approved unanimously by the DDA.
Nic Greene made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from September 27, Brandon Hembree made the second, and the meeting minutes were approved unanimously by the DDA.
Old Business:
Kevin McComber provided a brief update on the EpiCenter project.
City staff provided updates on both the Iconic and Nexus projects, and informed DDA members that design review board approval for Nexus will be coming up before City Council in December.
Kaipo Awana gave an update on the scope and timing of the Downtown Mobility Plan, and stated that it should be ready for review for the November or December DDA meeting.
The DDA budget for 2017 was approved by the DDA in October. Staff informed the DDA that City Council will review and consider the DDA’s budget request at an upcoming meeting.
Downtown Cleanup Day will take place on Saturday, November 19 from 1:00 until 2:30 PM.
New Business:
Allen Jorgensen made a motion to approve the use of the Old City Hall Annex for use by New South during the EpiCenter construction, Nick Thompson made the second, and the motion was approved unanimously by the DDA.
Nancy Wren made a motion to approve use of the Buice Gymnasium for use by Georgia Force pending General Counsel decision regarding liability, Nick Thompson made the second, and the motion was approved unanimously by the DDA.
Staff comments came from Tim Schick, providing an update on November 11 as the targeted opening date for the Ice Rink @ Sugar Hill. There were no DDA member or guest comments from the audience.
