The Sugar Hill Riverlands sits on more than 160 acres owned by the City of Sugar Hill, straddling Cumming Highway and just east of the Chattahoochee River in Gwinnett County. The property borders the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) a 7,000 + acre national park unit that draws more than 3.5 million visitors a year and lies along the Metropolitan River Protection Act corridor, the 2,000-foot buffer that has safeguarded the river’s water quality since 1973.

Guided by two years of community input, market analysis, and a City-adopted Master Plan, the Riverlands will become a hub for outdoor recreation and conservation. Some of the activities include:

  • 5 + miles of soft surface, multi-use trails for mountain biking and hiking, and trail running.
  • A paved greenway that will become a part of Sugar Hill’s larger greenway network.
  • A nature center and interpretive programming for environmental education and school field trips.
  • Access points for wildlife viewing.
  • Picnic areas, nature themed playground, and other outdoor themed amenities.
