The City of Sugar Hill is working with qualified contractors to repair and rehabilitate stormwater pipes at selected locations throughout the City where repairs are needed. Instead of completely removing and replacing some deteriorated pipes, the City may use trenchless rehabilitation methods such as CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) lining or Spin-Cast lining.
CIPP lining installs a resin-saturated liner inside the existing pipe. Once cured, the liner forms a strong, seamless, jointless pipe within the existing pipe. Properly designed CIPP systems can restore structural integrity, seal cracks and joints, reduce infiltration, and provide a design life of approximately 50 years or more, depending on the system and installation.
Spin-Cast lining uses specialized equipment to apply layers of high-strength cementitious material to the interior of the existing pipe. The lining bonds to the existing pipe and creates a new protective structural surface that can strengthen deteriorated pipe walls, seal cracks and voids, and help protect the pipe from continued deterioration. The required thickness is determined based on the existing pipe condition, depth, loading, and engineering requirements.
These rehabilitation methods can extend the service life of existing stormwater infrastructure while reducing the need for extensive excavation, roadway disturbance, and impacts to surrounding properties. Each pipe is inspected and evaluated before the appropriate repair method is selected. Warranty coverage is provided according to the specific project and contractor requirements.
Thank you for your patience while the City works to improve and maintain Sugar Hill’s stormwater system.
